Would You Ever Quit Your Job Like This?

The latest from TheBlaze.com:

You know those crazy animated Taiwanese news videos everyone loves?

Well, Marina Shifrin has decided she’s through working for the company behind those video (Next Media Animation) and announced recently that she is quitting her job.

And she made the announcement in the most millennial way possible: she posted a YouTube video that included some random dancing.

She explained on her blog that she wants to write, not just grind out “journalism.”

“Journalism is the worst!” her blog reads.”I mean if you’re not reporting about which Kardashian is pregnant, then you’re reporting about a baby that was shot in the head.”

“My boss is a brilliant writer. My respect for him is boundless. He is a journalist who has become a successful and wealthy businessman,” she added. “As a businessman it is his main objective to make revenue. How do you make revenue? Clicks. Remember? Clicks are King.”

And clicks oftentimes translate into writing about seemingly pointless and trivial things — like a woman who quit her job via a YouTube dance video:

From the video’s description:

I work for an awesome company that makes news videos. I have put my entire life into this job, but my boss only cares about quantity, how fast we write and how many views each video gets.

I believe it’s more important to focus on the quality of the content. When you learn to improve this, the views will come. Here is a little video I made explaining my feelings.
